The 18-anyos na binata ay nasawi matapos tumalon at malunod sa Pasig River sa Bgy. 286, Binondo, Maynila, Lunes ng gabi, Enero 5.
According to Kagawad Hamid Salambat, it was past 7:00 pm when there was a commotion behind the barangay outpost. A report was received that a person drowned in the river and could not be refloated. The barangay requested help from the Philippine Coast Guard, and at around 8:47 p.m. the victim's floating body was found.
Based on information from Sangguniang Kabataan Adviser Carl Rovero, the victim was jumping to escape from a group of pursuers riding in a red car. The victim was said to have companions who also jumped into the river but survived.
It appears from the barangay records that the victim is not a resident of Bgy. 286, but was turned over to them on November 11, 2025, after being involved in a case of cellphone theft.
The investigation of the Manila Police District is continuing using CCTV footage to determine the victim's route and confirm the report about the red car. The remains have been brought to the funeral for examination, while the survivor who was with the victim is being sought for further statement.
