A 77-year-old woman in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Cainta, Rizal died after being stabbed by her 81-year-old husband while she was sleeping in the early hours of December 12.
The 58-year-old son said he woke up to loud screams coming from his parents' room on the first floor. He was able to call for help from the barangay and police, but his mother was no longer alive due to a deep wound on the left side of her neck.
According to police Patrolman John Marvin Molina, the couple had no argument before the incident. They were happily chatting about their married life, so it is possible that the suspect was distracted while sleeping.
The son added that the father had a chronic illness and was under medication, possibly Alzheimer's or Dementia. Police recovered the kitchen knife used in the crime.
The victim is now holed up in their house. The couple's family declined to give a statement and the suspect is already in custody on a Parricide case.
