15 to 18 contractors mentioned by Marcos in August. A total of 421 projects are being investigated by the commission.
ICI Special Adviser Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said they will inspect flood control works in the Ilocos region this week and in Central Cebu on Sunday, especially in Cebu City and Mandaue, which were hit by heavy floods due to Typhoon Tino.
The inspection aims to find out why the severe flooding occurred despite millions of pesos being allocated for flood control in the area. Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro said that more than ₱26 billion has been allocated for flood control in the province.
ICI is collecting bid documents with the help of the NBI and CIDG. "We will compare that with the actual implementation," Azurin said. They also met with the DOJ, DPWH, PNP, AFP, and Ombudsman to prepare for possible cases against those related to anomalies in flood control projects.
In August, Marcos said that only 15 contractors received almost 20% of the ₱545.65 billion flood control funds from July 2022 to May 2025.
