A fire broke out in Barangay 900, Sta. Ana, Manila, on Wednesday morning, destroying at least five houses.
According to Angelito Laguinday, a resident who saw smoke coming from his neighbor's house, he immediately tried to put out the fire using the faucet, but he was unable to stop the fire.
It took more than an hour to completely contain the fire, which had reached a second alarm. Firefighters also had difficulty entering the area due to the narrow alley.
Bgy. Chairwoman Melinda Mercado said the fire may have originated from an electric pole, but it is still under investigation.
The family of Alexander Bueno, who recently lost his brother and now also lost their home, has been hit twice. Up to eight families have been affected by the fire, according to the barangay.
