A police officer was killed after allegedly robbing a convenience store in Marilao, Bulacan on Monday night. According to the investigation, the suspect entered the store in Barangay Sta. Rosa I and pretended to be a customer before pulling out a gun and declaring a holdup.
The suspect is estimated to have taken ₱20,000 from the store's profits before fleeing on a motorcycle to Barangay Loma de Gato.
During a hot pursuit operation, the Marilao police intercepted the suspect, but he suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire. The police returned fire, causing the suspect to be hit. He was taken to the hospital but dead on arrival.
The suspect was identified as a police captain from Caloocan City. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether he is linked to the syndicate involved in a series of convenience store robberies in Central Luzon.
