The Culiat High School in Quezon City has conducted a massive disinfection and cleaning as protection against the influenza-like illness. They have also placed hand sanitizers in various areas of the school. According to Principal Dr. Ammar Torrevillas, there are some students with symptoms of cough and cold, but only a few are affected per grade.
Apart from cleanliness, the walkways have also been repaired and the paths are now paved to make students safer in the event of an earthquake. There were also go bags for immediate evacuation if necessary.
In Pasay City, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano personally inspected T. Paez Elementary School to ensure earthquake preparedness. She was shown desks that can be used as shelters and classrooms equipped with hard hats and emergency kits.
Meanwhile, in Laguna, face-to-face classes were suspended from October 14 to 31 as a precaution against the threat of the West Valley Fault. According to Governor Sol Aragones, they preferred to be preemptive for safety especially in areas with fault lines.
Authorities also inspected the 60-year-old building of Sampaloc Elementary School to ensure the structural strength of each classroom. The aim of all these measures is to ensure the health and safety of students.
