The Kia PV5 is a new all-electric van that looks like it came out of a sci-fi movie. Instead of converting the old platform to electric, it was built from the E-GMP.S platform that is specifically for electric vehicles.
Although its dimensions are only the size of a compact MPV (4,695 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, 1,899 mm high), the interior is as spacious as a full-size van. It can accommodate up to 7 people or has 3,615 liters of space when the seats are folded. In cargo mode, it has 5.2 cubic meters—the same size as other large vans.
The PV5's design is unique—geometric lines, DRLs connected to the A-pillar, and bumpers that are easily replaceable. It's also practical with scratch and stain-resistant materials and roof mounting points for additional accessories. The modular design makes it like Lego, with different variants depending on the application.
Inside, there is a 7.5-inch instrument cluster and 12.9-inch center screen running an Android-based system. There is a choice of two battery sizes: 51.2 kWh and 71.2 kWh, which can reach a 412 km range. There is also a smaller 43.3 kWh LFP battery for the cargo variant. The estimated price of this EV van could range from ₱2.5M to ₱3M, depending on the specs.
For performance, there is a 163 hp and 250 Nm torque single-motor front drive. Not super fast, but enough for daily use and comfortable driving. There is Smart Regenerative Braking, a low center of gravity, and good handling. In the future, the PV5 will be the beginning of a wider EV commercial vehicle line-up from Kia, including the PV7 and PV9.
