A tragedy struck Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas, Cavite after a 4-year-old girl died due to alleged abuse by her 23-year-old mother on the night of September 23, 2025.
When police arrived at the Dasmariñas hospital, they found the child's body covered in wounds, bruises, and rashes. According to Master Sergeant Edilberto Ycaro, they immediately investigated and sought statements from two witnesses.
A witness said he saw the mother hit the child with a wood while the door to their rented room was open. Another witness heard loud bangs and the child cried out before losing consciousness.
A short while later, the mother asked for help from her roommates after noticing that her child was no longer breathing. The child was taken to the hospital but was declared dead. The mother was arrested there.
According to eyewitnesses, this is not the first time the suspect has hit the child. He is said to have been spanked often for being naughty and messy, things that are normal for a child. During the police investigation, the mother allegedly used wood or arnis as a club. The suspect is now in police custody and is facing a case of parricide.
