The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized P1.16 billion worth of illegal drugs in various operations from August 29 to September 5 nationwide.
According to PDEA Director General Isagani R. Nerez, in collaboration with other agencies, they conducted 48 buy-bust operations, marijuana eradications, interdictions, and raids. In these operations, 101 drug personalities were arrested including 36 pushers, 24 drug den visitors, 7 employees, 11 owners or managers, 12 drug transporters, and 11 users.
Among the items seized were 169,557.58 grams of shabu, 10,250 marijuana plants, 272.63 grams of marijuana tops, and 1,000 marijuana seedlings.
The largest seizure was 86.7 kilos of shabu worth ₱589.98 million in Barangay Rio Hondo, Zamboanga City. 70 kilos of shabu worth ₱476 million were also seized from a warehouse in Tondo, Manila. In the Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, almost 11 kilos of shabu worth ₱74.8 million were seized.
Overall, this is a major victory for PDEA against illegal drugs which continue to threaten the country's security.
