A Meralco technician was shot dead while traveling in Barangay Salitran 3, Dasmariñas, Cavite this Wednesday morning. The victim had just returned from their district office and was traveling along Jose Abad Road when he was suddenly hit by a vehicle. CCTV footage shows a brief conversation before he was shot.
The victim was taken to the hospital and revived by doctors, but was later declared dead. During the investigation, two bullet wounds were found in the victim's van. According to witnesses, two to three shots were fired and one spent bullet was recovered.
For now, the police are looking into road rage as the motive. They already have a person of interest who is allegedly a bodyguard of a politician and also a resident of Dasmariñas. Operations are ongoing to catch the suspect.
Meralco expressed its condolences to the family of their employee who served 21 years with the company. They also promised to provide financial assistance and support to the family, including taking care of burial and funeral arrangements amounting to ₱250,000.
The tragedy has caused great sadness among the victim's colleagues and they now hope that justice will be achieved.
