
A 56-year-old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Ermita, Manila on August 1 after being seized with suspected shabu worth P544,000.
According to Maj. Salvador Iñigo Jr., they received a tip from a confidential informant who tipped off the suspect. It turned out that he had a former boss who was a drug pusher who was first arrested in July. After the boss was jailed, he allegedly took over the pushing in the area.
Iñigo added that the suspect is the source of drugs for dealers in the Lawton area. During the operation, two plastic sachets containing 80 grams of suspected shabu were confiscated.
It was learned that the suspect had previously been imprisoned for drug-related charges and was only released last year. Despite this, he denied pushing drugs and insisted, “I’m just using, I’m not selling.”
The suspect was inquested on August 2 and is facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
