A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Manila Police District (MPD) in a drug buy-bust operation on Mel Lopez Boulevard, also known as Road 10, Tondo, Manila.
Recovered from the suspect were three sachets of suspected shabu worth nearly ₱750,000. According to police, the suspect, who was previously a delivery rider, had been under surveillance for several months.
Based on the investigation, the drugs came from Bulacan and were being brought to Manila for sale, including by truck drivers passing through Road 10. According to P/Maj. Salvador Iñigo Jr., the arrest is a big deal in preventing road accidents.
The suspect admitted that he did it because of the hardships of life. “Because of poverty. The salary is not enough,” said the suspect, apologizing for what he did.
The Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines expressed its dismay and called for an end to drug use. “Take care of yourself and your job,” the group reminded.
