The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned to expect moderate to heavy rains over parts of Luzon. The heavy rains are caused by the southwest monsoon which is being strengthened by two typhoons outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of yesterday's last report at 3 p.m., Tropical Storm Co-may was located 985 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. At the same time, Typhoon Krosa was located 2,455 kilometers east-northeast of the same area. According to PAGASA, the two storms have a low probability of entering the PAR, but they continue to strengthen the southwest monsoon.

The strengthened southwest monsoon will bring heavy rains to Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Benguet, and some parts of Mimaropa. In Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mindoro, expect continuous heavy rains. PAGASA also warned of 100 to 200 millimeters of rain in Benguet, which could cause flooding and landslides.

Meanwhile, there is a gale warning for Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte. All are advised to avoid sailing in these areas for now. In Metro Manila, rainy weather is expected until Wednesday, while rain will continue in Baguio and Northern Luzon until Friday.

For the Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao, the weather will be fair except for localized thunderstorms. PAGASA advises all residents to be prepared against flash floods and landslides.
