A 15-year-old boy was found dead inside his room in Lapu-Lapu City on Wednesday, July 23. He had a gunshot wound to the head and a gun was found next to him.
According to Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, spokesperson of the Lapu-Lapu City Police, the student, who was in Grade 10, is believed to have committed suicide. At the crime scene, a .45 caliber pistol belonging to his father, who is a police officer, was found.
Torres said the gun was the father's personal belongings and had complete paperwork and a license. It was kept inside a locker but the victim forced it open and took the gun.
Before the incident, according to the investigation, the father was angry with his son because he returned home from a night out. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the father was responsible for what happened.
