The fire broke out on the second floor of a rental house on Zambales Street, Brgy. San Martin de Porres, Quezon City early Wednesday morning. It reached the first alarm and 13 fire trucks responded immediately.
According to SF04 Rolando Valena, fire investigator from the QC Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), a male body was found on the bed. The floor was made of wood and galvanized iron, and there were partitions made of light materials, which allowed the fire to spread quickly.
Another man, 43 years old, suffered burns on his shoulder and arm. He was immediately treated by the medic team.
According to Jennifer, a 30-year-old tenant, “I thought someone was grilling. When I opened the door, fire immediately hit my face. My hair was still burned so I immediately ran downstairs.”
The fire was extinguished at around 2:20 a.m., and the BFP is currently investigating the cause of the fire and the total damage. BFP Reminder: Unplug appliances from the power outlet when not in use to prevent fires.
