The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has seized illegal vape products worth over ₱543 million in unpaid taxes. The operation was conducted at a house in Marilao, Bulacan, where 81,200 vape pods branded "Team Papa"—all without BIR-issued excise stamps were discovered.
According to the BIR, those responsible for the entry of these products will be charged with violating several sections of the National Internal Revenue Code such as Section 258 (unlawful pursuit of business), Section 263 (unlawful possession or removal of excise-taxed goods), and Section 254 (attempt to evade payment of tax).
BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui warned those who hide such businesses in villages and residential compounds. “They think we can't reach them. They are mistaken,” he said.
The official also urged the public to report suspicious vape products in their area. “Vape criminals have no place in our homes and communities,” Lumagui added.
The BIR's action is part of an intensified campaign against smuggling and tax evasion, for the protection of the people and government revenue.
