The First E-Jeepney Factory in Batangas Has Now Opened!

The dream came true with the opening of the first e-jeepney factory in Lima Estate, Batangas on April 30, 2025. It was led by Luis “Chavit” Singson, former governor of Ilocos Sur. His goal is to give hope and help to jeepney drivers during the era of transport modernization.

According to Singson, the LCS EMON Lima Factory is not just a business—it is a project that will help the livelihoods of the drivers. They imitated the classic jeepney design but now, it is eco-friendly and electric. The price of each unit is P1.2 million, cheaper compared to other e-jeepneys that cost P2.5 to P3 million. This can be recovered in 2 to 3 years of income.

The factory targets to produce 500 units per month, and if demand increases, it will increase. Another benefit of local production is easy maintenance and availability of parts. According to Singson, "If something breaks, we can fix it right here in the Philippines."

While still awaiting franchise approval from the LTFRB, there are international orders, such as Paraguay which ordered 60 units. The company also plans to expand operations to the Visayas and Mindanao, and this will provide employment to almost 100 Filipinos.

Zaldy Pingay from the Stop and Go Transport Coalition said, "Chavit is not just providing e-jeepneys at a low price—he is reviving the spirit of our beloved jeepney." He added, "Many jobs will be created in this project – starting in Batangas, expanding nationwide.**"
