Netflix will increase the prices of its subscription plans in the Philippines starting June 1, coinciding with the implementation of the digital tax law. Republic Act No. 12023, signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in October 2024, will impose a 12% VAT on foreign digital service providers and tech firms offering services in the country.
Here are the new subscription plan prices:
Mobile - P169/month (previously P149)
Basic - P279/month (previously P249)
Standard - P449/month (previously P399)
Premium - P619/month (previously P549)
additional member slots for Standard and Premium subscribers will be P169/month, up from P149.
Other streaming services like Disney+, Prime Video, Max, Spotify, and Apple Music are also expected to increase their prices before June 1. According to the Department of Finance, they expect to collect P102.12 billion from the tax to be levied from 2025 to 2028.
