Apple Inc. is reportedly preparing to launch its first-ever Touchscreen MacBook Pro in late 2026, a move that could change its long-standing stance against touch-enabled laptops. According to a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg L.P., the tech giant is targeting the release of a high-end model with touch capabilities while maintaining the classic MacBook design.
While the physical keyboard and trackpad will remain on the new 14-inch and 16-inch versions, they will reportedly feature a “dynamic user interface” that can adjust depending on whether the user is using touch or a traditional cursor. When using touch input, a context-aware menu may appear that is easier to tap and navigate. This innovation represents a more flexible and intuitive user experience for professionals and creatives.
Aside from software enhancements, a major hardware upgrade is also expected. The lineup is said to use OLED display technology for clearer and more vibrant visuals. There is also news of a Mac-specific version of Dynamic Island, a feature first introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro, which could potentially be integrated into the smaller hole-punch camera cutout. However, sources emphasized that it will not replace the iPad, but will remain a Mac device with added versatility in input options.
