The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that it will conduct round-the-clock rehabilitation works along EDSA this Holy Week. The aim is to take advantage of the lighter traffic during the holiday period to expedite repairs and minimize inconvenience to motorists.
According to MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes, the 24/7 work will begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday (April 1) and end at 5 a.m. on Monday (April 6). He noted that traffic will be lighter during these days and that the agency will issue advisories while personnel will manage traffic flow in the construction zones.
Partial lane closures on EDSA are scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, and rehabilitation will continue until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 6. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and be prepared for changes in traffic flow.
The rehabilitation works on EDSA began in late December last year, initially focusing on the busway lane. The first phase of the project, covering the stretch from Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City to Orense Street in Makati City, is almost 50 percent complete, with completion expected by July.
This ongoing project is part of the MMDA's plan to keep EDSA in a safer and more orderly condition for thousands of motorists every day. The agency emphasizes the importance of the public's cooperation to ensure smooth traffic flow during the works.
