Tallulah Proulx's historic campaign at the 2026 Winter Olympics came to an end after she completed the women's slalom event in Milano Cortina. The 17-year-old Filipino-American alpine skier recorded a total time of 2:08.48, placing her in 50th place overall. Despite fierce competition against veteran athletes from various countries, Proulx displayed the determination and resilience expected of an Olympian.
In the first run, he clocked 1:02.93 and placed 61st, before moving up to 50th place after the second run with a time of 1:05.55. He was one of 64 athletes out of 95 participants to successfully complete the first run, and was among 53 to reach the finish line in the second run. His performance was a testament to his dedication and mental toughness amidst the pressure of the global stage.
The gold medal went to Mikaela Shiffrin, who clocked a total time of 1:39.10 and once again proved her dominance in alpine skiing. This was her third Olympic gold and first since the 2018 Winter Games. Camille Rast won the silver medal while Anna Swenn Larsson took home the bronze, both showing a high level of competition in the women's slalom.
Despite the result, Proulx made history as the first and youngest Filipina Winter Olympian, competing in both the giant slalom and slalom events. She finished first in 54th place in the giant slalom, where she was among four 17-year-olds among 76 competitors. Her participation is symbolic of the expanding presence of the Philippines in winter sports, and an inspiration to a new generation of Filipino athletes.
Meanwhile, the campaign of Filipino-Italian alpine skier Francis Ceccarelli also ended, suffering a DNF in the men's slalom after an accident on the difficult course. However, he managed to finish 54th in the men's giant slalom in his Winter Games debut. Overall, the participation of these athletes demonstrates the Philippines' continued rise in the global winter sports arena.
