Lucasfilm has officially released the full trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. It immediately sparked social media outrage due to a shocking revelation: Din Djarin can be seen without a helmet while fighting. With the character played by Pedro Pascal, it is clear that the story will be more personal and emotional, especially in his mission to protect Grogu amidst the increasing danger in space.
In the trailer, Din Djarin is seen wounded and exposed as he faces powerful foes, including a new threat, Rotta the Hutt—son of the infamous Jabba. The character is voiced by Jeremy Allen White, who brings a new energy to the world of the Hutts. No longer the slow, traditional crime lord; Rotta is shown as more aggressive and ready to engage in intense combat in the underground arena.
Din and Grogu will not only face a journey to the Outer Rim. Under the leadership of Colonel Ward played by Sigourney Weaver, they officially work with the New Republic to suppress the remaining forces of the Empire. According to the trailer, their mission is not revenge but preventing another war. There are also big battle scenes, including a clash on an ice-covered planet and a high-speed chase in which Grogu himself drives his hover pram.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film aims to bridge the success of the streaming series with the grand experience of the cinema. It will also see the return of Zeb Orrelios from Star Wars Rebels, further expanding the Star Wars universe. With a combination of big action, emotional character development, and new villains, it's clear that this film will be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026.
