The physical launch of GTA VI may be delayed as Rockstar Games explores a digital-first strategy for one of the most anticipated games of the decade. The move is intended to prevent early leaks and spoilers that could emerge before the official global release.
Based on industry reports, the digital launch in late 2026 remains on schedule, but the physical copy could be pushed back a few weeks—or even to 2027. This decision is being attributed to past security incidents, where early release of retail copies has led to spoilers on social media.
The plan also reflects the industry's broader shift toward digital distribution, although it's rare for a title as big as GTA VI to not have a day-one physical release. Take-Two Interactive is expected to provide more details during its upcoming earnings call this February, including details on pre-orders and availability. For now, a digital release on November 19 is targeted, as fans continue to watch for the next announcement.
