Tropical Depression Ada has slightly strengthened while moving over the Philippine Sea east of Mindanao, according to the latest report from PAGASA. Signal No. 1 remained raised in 11 areas, while continuing to monitor the possible effects of strong winds and rain in the affected regions.
The center of Typhoon Ada was last spotted a few hundred kilometers east of Surigao, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It continued to move northwestward at 20 kph, with an extent of strong winds up to 400 kilometers from its center.
According to the weather agency, areas under Signal No. 1 may experience minimal to minor impacts, especially in coastal areas and mountainous areas. 50 to 100 millimeters of rain is also expected in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao, which may cause flooding and slippery roads.
Apart from the direct impact of Ada, the northeast monsoon is also strengthening winds in some parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, even in areas where there is no wind signal yet. The public, especially fishermen and travelers, are advised to remain alert and exercise caution.
On its current track, Ada is expected to intensify and may reach tropical storm during the day. PAGASA continues to monitor its movements, warning that it may bring heavy rains and winds even to areas outside the storm's projected path.
