TikTok and ByteDance have signed an agreement to form TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. This will organize TikTok's operations in the U.S. and the deal will close on January 22, 2026.
Major investors include Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX. They hold a large stake in the company, so 80.1% of the business is in the hands of non-Chinese investors. ByteDance will remain with just 19.9%.
Oracle will be the security partner. All U.S. user data will be hosted in their cloud, and the algorithm will be retrained to remain secure and free from outside influence. For the 170 million users in the U.S., the app will continue to work.
