A 4x4 off-road vehicle heading to a cemetery in Barangay Tiguib, Ayungon, Negros Oriental, lost its brakes on Saturday morning.
According to the driver, they were driving down a steep highway when the vehicle suddenly lost control. It went straight into a rocky vacant lot and overturned.
Eight individuals, including several senior citizens, died. Six of them were dead-on-arrival at the hospital while two lost their lives during treatment.
Four others were injured and are currently recovering in the hospital. The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office is continuing its investigation into the accident.
