The PNP-ACG has detained 10 people after conducting seven operations in Metro Manila and nearby provinces against online sales of illegal fireworks. According to the group, the suspects were discovered during cyber patrolling who were openly offering dangerous and powerful fireworks on social media.
Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta said that his units are continuing their campaign to ensure that the public is safe from illegal fireworks. The first operation was conducted by the Manila District Anti-Cybercrime Team on November 26, 2025 in Tondo where two men were caught selling P7,800 worth of illegal fireworks.
The next operation was on November 30, 2025 in Cabanatuan City, where a 21-year-old man was arrested for selling P2,750 worth of fireworks. According to Asueta, the suspect was a former retailer and has a larger source, so they continue to monitor him with the local police.
In operations in Caloocan, Cavite, and other areas, up to P75,000 worth of illegal fireworks were confiscated. All evidence is now in the custody of the police for the filing of charges. Asueta emphasized that online selling of fireworks is prohibited under any circumstances.
The 10 suspects will be charged with violation of RA 7183 regarding fireworks, in conjunction with RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act. The PNP-ACG also reminded not to buy illegal fireworks online due to the risk and possible lawsuits.
