A Virginia raccoon broke into a liquor store over Thanksgiving weekend, leaving the store with broken bottles and litter on the floor.
An officer from Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter was called to the area Saturday morning and found the "suspect" asleep in the bathroom.
The photos showed the raccoon lying on the floor, face down, next to the lavatory, while bottles were scattered in the aisle.
After a few hours of sleep and no injuries were found other than a possible hangover, the raccoon was released back into the wild. The shelter says it hopes it has learned that stealing is not the answer.
Raccoons are known for their careful feet and typically search for food at night in garbage and other areas.
