
The LRT has given assurance that the operations of LRT-2 will be smooth now that the expected influx of passengers and shoppers during the holiday season. According to LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera, they are doing everything they can to ensure that there are no malfunctions in the trains every day.
He also said that all station facilities such as escalators, elevators, and comfort rooms are in good condition. There has been no change in train deployment, but all transport operators have been instructed to prepare for the holiday rush.
Cabrera mentioned that there is a need for additional trains because currently only ten are running on LRT-2. They are asking for funds to purchase additional trains and serve the growing number of commuters.
While there are no new trains yet, he assured that the 10 existing trains are operated daily, especially during peak hours, and are maintained to prevent any damage while on the line.
LRTA also ensured that there was medical equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and AEDs ready for use in case of an emergency.
