The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced that the 4 remaining luxury cars of Curlee and Sarah Discaya will be re-auctioned on December 5. This is a result of their involvement in the alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
BOC Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Noel Bendijo said that up to P50 million could be raised from the sale, which will be directly deposited into the national treasury. There will be a public viewing of the vehicles from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3.
BOC lowers the floor price of vehicles: Toyota Tundra is at P3.4 million, Toyota Sequoia is at P4.6 million, Rolls Royce from P45M to P36M only, and the Bentley Bentayga is at P13 million. In the first auction, three vehicles have already earned P38 million.
If the second auction still fails, the BOC said it will enter into direct offer, where it will accept offers from interested buyers based on the valuation of the confiscated vehicles. According to Bendijo, this move is a message of “restitution” and law enforcement.
