Philippine tennis star Alex Eala has risen to No. 50 in the WTA rankings, the highest position of her career. She moved up one spot after reaching the Round of 16 at the Hong Kong Open.
Eala's match in Hong Kong ended with a loss to Victoria Mboko of Canada, who later became the tournament champion. Despite this, Eala is still happy with her progress this year.
According to Eala, “I had a great year in 2025. My only target was to enter the Top 100 before the end of the year, but I still surpassed that so I'm very happy.”
Eala's success is an added inspiration for young Filipinos who want to succeed in the field of sports. She continues to practice and prepare for the next tournaments to rise even higher in the rankings.
Currently, it is estimated that Eala's total prize money won in this year's tournaments is around ₱2.9 million — a testament to her determination and talent as one of the rising stars of women's tennis.
