The fun at the videoke turned into tragedy after a man was shot dead allegedly over a song dispute in San Mateo, Isabela.
The victim was identified as Roberto Miguel, 48 years old, a construction worker and resident of Barangay San Marcos. According to the investigation, the victim, the suspect, and several others were drinking on the terrace of a house when the incident occurred.
While singing, the victim allegedly passed the microphone to one of their companions. The suspect became angry, thinking that his song had been stolen. In anger, he shot Miguel twice in the back and chest.
The victim was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect fled after the shooting. According to police, they are conducting a hot pursuit operation to catch the perpetrator.
Based on the report, the victim and the suspect did not know each other. They were allegedly drinking and singing at a videoke before the shooting. The case will be filed as homicide under preliminary investigation.
