Vice President Sara Duterte clarified on Tuesday that she did not request the resignation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid government issues.
According to Duterte, what Marcos should do is undergo a drug test in response to the challenge of former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez.
“Until now, he has refused to do it. For me, that is betrayal of public trust,” Duterte said in an interview in Zamboanga.
He added that the calls for “Marcos resign” are useless.
“He won’t resign. Do you see the father? He sat for 20 years. Look at the DNA—he doesn’t want to leave his post,” Duterte said.
“All I ask is that he do his job. We all know he's not doing it,” the Vice President added.
On September 21, several groups called for Marcos Jr.'s resignation due to the issue of corruption in flood control projects worth billion pesos.
