Avatar: The Last Airbender will expand in 2026 with a new fighting video game and an animated YouTube series. It was announced at New York Comic Con as a major addition to the Avatar universe.
The game is tentatively titled Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game and is scheduled for release in summer 2026 for consoles and PC. It will use hand-drawn 2D animation to stay close to the original style of the series. The roster will include Aang, Korra, Zuko, Toph, Katara, and Sokka. The trailer showed Aang's Avatar State and Zuko's use of his Blue Spirit swords.
At the same time, chibi-style animated shorts will also be launched on YouTube. They will provide fun and humorous versions of classic scenes from the Avatar series and comics, as well as new stories.
For fans who have been waiting for nearly 20 years, the simultaneous release of a new game and animated shorts is a big surprise. It's proof that the Avatar universe will remain alive and expanding until 2026 and beyond.
