
New Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has pledged to file cases related to flood control corruption with the Sandiganbayan. After his swearing-in, Remulla said he wants continuous trials to avoid delaying tactics.
According to Remulla, the evidence his office has is sufficient and they will try to make it complete and strong before filing a case. He said it doesn't matter if the position is high or low—even a senator can be held accountable if the evidence is clear.
Asked if any relatives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. might be implicated, Remulla's answer was clear: "We have no choice, if that is the evidence, we cannot deny it."
At the same time, Remulla also said that cases regarding Pharmally corruption will be reviewed again, including the possible liability of former officials like Francisco Duque.
The new Ombudsman also added that they will study changing the policy on the release of SALN (Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth). They plan to release it but will remove sensitive details to comply with the data privacy law. This aims to help the investigation into the m
