The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has condemned the driver of an electric car that was caught on CCTV hitting a 15-year-old's motorcycle in Teresa, Rizal.
According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza, the incident can be considered road rage. “You can't take the law into your own hands, especially when a minor was injured,” said Mendoza.
CCTV footage showed an electric car chasing a motorcycle and hitting a student in Barangay Poblacion on Tuesday morning. The boy fell and slid on the road, almost being swept away by the vehicle.
The Department of Transportation has ordered the lifetime revocation of the suspect's driver's license. The LTO will also issue a show cause order and provide a lawyer to assist the victim's family in the case.
According to the police, the driver admitted that he lost his temper after being run over. The suspect could face attempted homicide charges. He also apologized to the family and promised to cover the medical and repair costs of the motorcycle.
