A man in Pagadian City was arrested by the NBI after posting on social media a photo of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with a red arrow pointing at his head and the caption “headshot.”
The post quickly spread online and caused various reactions. As a result, the NBI immediately investigated it and arrested the man. According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, the word headshot means shooting in the head, so it is considered a serious threat to the President's life.
The man's defense is that he had no intention to hurt. He explained that he simply made a mistake in the caption because what he meant was the word “Bogo” in the photo. He added that in Bisaya, “bogo” has a different meaning, but in Tagalog, the former is “bobo.”
The NBI is currently preparing cases against him such as grave threat and inciting to sedition.
NBI reminds, be careful with what you post online, especially if it involves government officials. They said, there is freedom of speech and expression, but when the statement becomes a threat, it is punishable.
