
The Bicol University in Legazpi City, Albay immediately shifted to online classes and suspended work after receiving a bomb threat this Wednesday, October 8. The BU West, East, and Daraga campuses were affected.
According to the university administration, they received the message on their official social media page with an explicit bomb threat. As a result, students and employees were immediately evacuated, causing a crowd at the gate and heavy traffic around the campus.
The police and their Explosives and Ordnance Disposal unit responded to conduct a thorough inspection. BU said on-site classes and work have been temporarily canceled for the safety and security of everyone.
The university added, “We do not take this type of threat lightly.”
In recent days, several schools in the country have also received similar bomb threats, prompting tighter security.
