The government will return P60 billion to PhilHealth after it was transferred to the National Treasury. According to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the money will be used to further expand PhilHealth benefits and services.
Marcos explained that many people are worried that PhilHealth's services may be reduced after the transfer of funds. He said, “This is a matter of life and death, so we cannot blame the people if they have concerns.”
He added that the return of P60 billion is not only to allay public fears, but also to ensure that more Filipinos will benefit from health services.
At the same time, the President mentioned that there were savings from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Because of this, there will be no more budget allocated for flood control projects in 2026, but the projects will still continue using the P350 billion budget for 2025.
Investigations into alleged corruption in flood control projects are also ongoing. Several DPWH officials and private contractors have been charged and their bank accounts frozen.
