The Summer I Turned Pretty will have a movie after the final episode of their series. The film has been confirmed and Jenny Han, the author of the popular book, will write the script.
According to Jenny, a large part of Belly's story would be better suited to a movie. “There is another important chapter in Belly's life and I believe that only a movie can provide a proper ending to it. I am very grateful for the support I have been given to share this final chapter with the fans,” she said.
First released in 2022, the series revolves around the love triangle of a young woman and two brothers. It features themes of first love, first heartbreak, and memories of a special summer. It stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno.
The show was a huge success, reaching 25 million viewers in the first week of Season 3 on July 16. The producers also praised the talent of the cast and the entire creative team who brought the story to life.
For Jenny, the impact of the series has been beyond her expectations. “It’s been amazing to see how the story has inspired millions, as well as the book returning to the bestseller list and the amount of reaction on social media. I’m so proud and grateful that we’ve done three seasons and now a movie as the final chapter,” she added.
