A TNVS driver in Bulacan was saved after being victimized by carnapping and illegal detention by four suspects on September 6.
Three men and a woman booked a ride using a ride-hailing app from Pampanga to Bulacan. Upon arrival in Marilao, they hijacked the vehicle and blindfolded the driver.
The victim was taken to a motel in San Rafael where he was locked up. He survived when the guard jumped from the second floor. Although limped, he immediately called for help.
The police immediately conducted an operation. One suspect was caught in Baliwag, while the woman surrendered at the police station. Two others were also caught the next day. All are now in custody.
The two suspects were found to have previous drug cases. According to the police, the incident could have been worse if the victim had not jumped. They will face charges of carnapping and serious illegal detention, which carry a corresponding prison sentence and fines of up to one million pesos.
