Anti-narcotics agents seized 151 kilos of marijuana worth an estimated P227 million in an operation at NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay.
The contraband was hidden in six suitcases from a couple who arrived from Thailand on Sunday. The suspects, identified as Jenet and Bryan, are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Two baggage loaders were arrested after they skipped the X-ray machine and placed the suitcases directly on the conveyor. When subjected to X-ray, they were found to be full of illegal drugs.
According to the investigation, there are others involved, Cyril and Erwin, who are not regular employees of the airport. The background check of the couple as well as their travel documents is ongoing.
