
A 29-year-old man was arrested after stealing a tricycle in Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City. According to police, the 54-year-old victim left his tricycle with the key still in the ignition at around 9:30 a.m. on September 8.
In the CCTV footage, the suspect can be seen walking around several times before pushing the tricycle away to avoid being seen. After a few meters, he immediately got on it and started it.
The victim immediately called for help and just in time, there were police patrolling. A follow-up operation was conducted and at around 9 p.m., the suspect was tracked down at a gas station where the tricycle was also recovered.
Investigation revealed that the suspect, who is also a tricycle driver, previously had a case of illegal gambling and physical injuries. He is now facing a case of violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
The police remind the public not to leave their vehicles unlocked, avoid parking in dark areas, and use a lock or alarm to ensure the safety of belongings.
