Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Last Samurai Standing, a six-episode historical drama and action series. It centers on a Meiji-era battle royale that will feature intense combat scenes and real-life strategy.
The teaser shows 292 warriors gathering at Tenryūji Temple in Kyoto. Each carries a wooden tag that must be defended or captured from others, all the way to Tokyo. A mix of CGI and practical effects were used, so expect one of the most intense action sequences on Japanese television.
It stars Junichi Okada, who not only acted but also helped with the action planning. He is joined by Gaku Hamada as Superintendent General Toshiyoshi Kawaji, Taiiku Okazaki as swordsman Jinroku Keagestar, and t data-end="1227">Arata Iuraas Home Minister Toshimichi Okubo. In addition, Tetsushi Tanaka and Ayumu Nakajima, as well as famous artists such as Yūmia Fujisaka, Kaya Kiyohara, Masahiro Higashide, and Kazunari Ninomiya.
Last Samurai Standing will be available to watch starting November 13, 2025, exclusively on Netflix. It will also be screened at a special viewing at the 30th Busan International Film Festival this month.
