An 18-year-old student in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture has been arrested after allegedly poisoning his 53-year-old uncle. The reason, it is said, was that he could no longer stand his loud snoring every night.
According to police, the teenager chopped oleander leaves, a poisonous plant, and mixed them into his uncle's miso soup on July 17. When the victim tasted the strange taste, he immediately spat it out. Despite this, he still experienced numbness in his mouth and stomach pain, requiring immediate medical attention.
Testing revealed that the broth contained the deadly poison oleandrin. Fortunately, the uncle survived and is currently recovering in the hospital.
During interrogation, the teenager admitted that he planned to kill his uncle because of his loud snoring. He is now facing a case of attempted murder.
