Lionel Messi is expected to return for Inter Miami's match against Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer. According to coach Javier Mascherano, Messi is ready to play after recovering from his minor muscle injury on August 2.
After the Galaxy match this weekend, Miami will face Tigres UANL in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals next Wednesday. “Leo is in good condition and has been training with the team since Wednesday,” Mascherano said.
Messi, 38, suffered a hamstring strain but has recovered quickly. He has 18 goals and 9 assists in 18 games, and is currently leading the MLS Golden Boot race. Meanwhile, Miami will be looking to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Orlando City.
Miami dropped to fifth place in the Eastern Conference with ₱2.5 million points (42 points), nine points behind leader Philadelphia but with three games still to be played.
Miami is the favorite in the match against the Galaxy, defending champions but is currently bottom of the standings. However, according to Mascherano, the Galaxy should not be underestimated because they have shown a better game in recent months.
