A mother and her baby were shot while eating in their small rented house in Barangay San Gregorio, San Pablo City, Laguna on Friday night.
It happened around 8 p.m. when an armed man suddenly entered and opened fire on 30-year-old Rhea Lunar and her seven-month-old baby girl. Her 58-year-old mother was also injured.
According to the hospital, the baby was dead on arrival while Rhea died a few hours later. Rhea sustained six bullet wounds from a .45 caliber gun, while her baby sustained three. The grandmother is in stable condition, and their helper is safe.
The family says they don't understand who did this because they have no enemies. According to Renato Lunar, Rhea's brother, they have only been living in the rented house for three months and his brother's pair of shoes were sold in the area only eight days ago.
Police are investigating the incident and said the attack on the mother and son was planned. They also recovered the motorcycle used in the crime in Barangay San Joaquin. Police are continuing to search for the suspect.
