An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Kuwait who was returning home to Dumaguete was found dead inside a bus after being thought to be sleeping.
According to a statement by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), they have contacted the family of Wilma Auza and extended sympathy, support, and financial assistance amounting to ₱200,000 under programs for families of OFWs.
Auza returned to the Philippines after his contract abroad ended. He had several stopovers before reaching Dumaguete. During the trip, passengers said that he was vomiting and seemed not feeling well. He later fell asleep.
Upon arrival at the bus terminal, passengers tried to wake him up but he was no longer breathing. responders were immediately called and his body was taken to the rural health unit for medical examination.
The investigation is still ongoing to determine the exact cause of his death. OWWA said it will provide more information when it has an update.
