
The shooting incident occurred at Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila, at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5. The 51-year-old man died after being shot in the back and cheek.
According to the police chief, the investigation revealed that the victim and the suspects had a prior dispute. It was learned that the victim had reprimanded one of them a few days before the incident for allegedly stealing coins from a computer shop. The motive for the shooting was also said to be drug-related.
The alleged suspects are two of the victim's children. The victim's partner allegedly saw them fleeing after the shooting. In a follow-up operation by the police, the two were arrested. One of the suspects admitted to being with him in the shooting but denied participating in the motive.
According to the investigation, the alleged shooter tested positive for gun powder residue. Both have a record of imprisonment for illegal gambling. The suspects will face murder charges and will undergo inquest proceedings today.
