Social Security System (SSS) pensioners will receive annual increases in their monthly pensions starting September 2025 to 2027. This is part of a major reform to address long-standing calls for higher benefits while maintaining fund stability.
According to the SSS announcement on July 31, up to 3.8 million pensioners will benefit. This includes 2.6 million for retirement and disability and 1.2 million for survivor pensioners.
How Much is the Pension Increase?
Starting September 2025, the pension will increase by:
10% for retirement and disability pensioners
5% for death or survivor pensioners
The increase will be implemented annually until 2027, so the increase is compounding. For example, if your pension is ₱2,200, it will be ₱2,420 in September 2025. In 2026, it will reach ₱2,662, and in 2027, it will increase to ₱2,928.20 – 33% total increase from the previous amount.
Why is there an increase?
This reform aims to mitigate the impact of inflation, increase the purchasing power of pensioners, and stimulate the economy. It is estimated that ₱92.8 billion will enter the economy from 2025 to 2027 as a result.
It is also good news that members' contributions will not increase to fund the additional benefits. The increase has been analyzed through actuarial studies to ensure that the SSS fund is sustainable.
